Copper City Brewing Company is proud to be the first craft brewery in Rome, New York in over 80 years. Today, they also remain the only brewery in Rome.
About the Brewery
Although Rome has a deep history of brewing beer, before Copper City was opened, there hadn’t been a brewery in town since the 1930s! Danny Frieden and Eric Daniels established Copper City Brewing Company in Fall of 2016 and was quickly named the best beer bar in New York by CraftBeer.com. The brewery became so popular, they expanded in 2019 to a much larger space.
The inspiration to own a brewery came from Danny’s time he served in Iraq - where he couldn’t get himself a pint of beer for several years. When he came home to Rome, he found a business partner and pursued his dream of opening a brewery. The pair purchased an old BBQ restaurant to renovate into a brewery and taproom, and the name pays homage to Rome’s history of producing copper products. Remnants of the restaurant can still be seen in the building’s structure.
With 12 tap lines at the brewery, it’s easy to find something on tap for anyone’s taste buds. Copper CIty brews a mix of blondes, wits, IPAs, brown ales, stouts, lagers, pale ales, pilsners, imperials, and more. The classic favorites include the Woods Valley Witte, Exhibit E Imperial Stout, and A Blonde Walks Into a Bar.
