1. Toss n Fire Pizza – Camillus, NY
Toss n Fire is one of my favorite pizzerias in the area, especially the Camillus location at Township 5.
It’s hard to decide which pizza style is my favorite. Is it their Detroit Style? The Wood-Fired? Or the NY Style?
I’ve had them all before (more than I’d like to admit). But this month I’m rocking out to their Detroit Style Pizza, the Honey Pot. It has Garlic olive oil, 4 cheese blend, tomato sauce, fresh basil, hot cherry peppers, cup & char pepperoni, pecorino, and chile-infused honey drizzle. It’s a banger for sure. When I’m chowing down on this cheesy deep dish, I’m rocking out to “Detroit Rock City” from the legendary Kiss. I mean, what else would I be kicking it to when jumping into this Detroit Style Deep Dish? Find Toss n Fire at 190 Township Blvd Suite 40, Camillus, and online here.
2. Buried Acorn Brewing:
I’ve been a fan of Buried Acorn Brewing for a long time. For me, it started with their Hot Whip IPA. I had my first one years ago and that delicious beer lead me to the Buried Acorn Tap Room and the discovery of their Bottle Society Membership. The Bottle Society Membership gets me a super awesome bottle club that gets 12 750ml bottles, specially made for members that no one else can buy! You get 3 bottles every quarter, 2 custom Bottle Society glasses, and 2 membership discount cards (15% off to-go items). Tim, the head brewer, makes some wild fermented, barrel-aged beers that he is most known for. It’s a great beer club to be in and brings some of the rarest beers around. You can still hang in one of their three taprooms and enjoy plenty of IPA’s, Sours, Ales, and plenty of other styles.
If I’m sipping on one of the Buried Acorn Hot Whips I’m usually listening to Juicy by The Notorious B.I.G.
Find Buried Acorn in Syracuse, Ithaca, and online here.
3. 317 at Montgomery Street:
I have said it before and I will say it again, 317 at Montgomery Street is a very underrated restaurant here in Syracuse. 317 at Montgomery Street is a slightly upscale restaurant but the dining room isn’t stuffy, it’s very relaxed and comfortable while still feeling upscale. The menu at 317 at Montgomery Street changes seasonally and currently has some of my favorites. I like to start with either the heirloom tomato tart or the slow-roasted duck tacos. The tacos are served with Corn Tortilla, Fresh Mango Salsa, Lime Crema, and Pickled Cabbage Slaw. For dinner I really, REALLY love the Stuffed Poblano peppers – Fire Roasted Poblano Peppers stuffed with Corn, Black Beans, and smothered with Cheese on a Lentil-based Enchilada Sauce and Seasoned Rice. Usually, when we go to 317 at Montgomery Street it’s for a date night and that means I’m listening to some of my and my wife’s favorite songs. What am I listening to on the way to a date night at 317 at Montgomery Street? Night and Day by Tony Bennett.
4. Three Lives:
I’ve been a fan of Three Lives since before they opened. There is NOTHING like Three Lives anywhere in Syracuse. From the atmosphere, the games, the vibe, the food, the drinks, even the way they give you the check at the end. Three Lives is a legit killer in the bar and restaurant scene. What do I love most about
Three Lives ? The drinks…for sure. The Mana Up is my favorite potion on the list and if I’m feeling lucky I’ll go for their roll for a shot where you can roll dice and then get that shot that corresponds to what you rolled. Getting some grub at three Lives? Of course you are! I go for the 8-Bit sliders featuring their secret sauce and crispy tater tots. But what side sauce are you going to choose for those tots? I go for the Honey Lime Chipotle. Make sure you bring those quarters to get your game on before, during, or after your 8-bit sliders.
So what song am I listening to while thinking about Three Lives? 311 “I’ll be here awhile”
