I haven’t been completely honest with you: I’ve never been a big wine slushy person. I prefer my alcohol to be either hopped, bitter, or double and neat. But last year at the New York State Fair, Ashley Lynn won me over to the world of sweet alcoholic beverages. And I think the thing that really did it for me was starting with their milkshakes.
Now, they do these crazy boozy milkshakes with butterscotch and chocolate and peanut butter in them, and that’s a really easy way to get into the world of wine slushies because you feel like you’re drinking a milkshake — it’s just that you could get drunk if you had too many of them. So, with that in mind, it’s kind of an easy step to go from boozy milkshake to wine slushy. If you watched any of my videos from last year, then you know that I was a big fan of Ashley Lynn. So this year I was looking forward to trying their new creations.
The $60 Passport
This year I went on Day One and got myself one of their new passports. Ashley Lynn is offering a $60 passport this year. Now you’re probably thinking to yourself, $60 is way too much for something at The Fair — but I think that’s where you’re wrong. See, Ashley Lynn has four different stands at The Fair, and each one offers something different. They’re serving everything from standard wine slushies to boozy milkshakes, to Creamsicle flavored slushies, and boozy Dole Whip. That’s right, they’re doing a Raspberry Lime Margarita flavored Dole Whip!
Now sure, you might choose to just get their standard wine slushy. But I don’t advise that. Not because it’s not good — As wine slushies go, it’s really good. But — and I mean this with all due respect to Ashley Lynn — you can really take advantage of them with this passport. Here’s why: Their $60 passport gets you five drinks.
Their boozy milkshakes clock in at $20 each. It’s not something I’m gonna drink every single night, but it’s definitely something I’ll have two or three of throughout The Fair this year. Again, those run $2o a piece, so by purchasing the passport for $60, I can get five boozy milkshakes. That’s $100 worth of drinks for $60, or 40% off! That’s an incredible deal.
How the Passport Works
The passport works like this: You go to any one of Ashley Lynn’s four booths at The Fair and buy the passport for 60 bucks. Then, you visit any of their booths, at anytime during The Fair, to get a total of five drinks.
You can get one today, one tomorrow, three next week — it’s totally up to you. You could chip in with a group of friends, split the cost of the passport and get five drinks together. Or, you could be a real psycho and just house five wine slushies all at once. For the record, that’s something I don’t advise and I’m not recommending, but you could do it if you were really crazy.
What I Tried
This year I tried the Bomb Pop Wine Slushy, the Creamsicle Wine Slushy, and the new Biscoff Boozy Milkshake.
The Bomb Pop Wine Slushy is red, white, and blue with as bomb pop sticking out of it. Their Creamsicle is an Orange Wine Slushy swirled with Vanilla boozy milkshake. Their new Biscoff Boozy Milkshake was probably my favorite.
Biscoff and Nutella with vanilla boozy milkshake? Yes, please, and I’ll have another one. Thank you very much.
Call me crazy, but I just don’t think you’ve really had a true New York State Fair experience if your tongue isn’t stained from the red or blue wine slushy you’ve been sucking on all day long.
If you’re not getting buzzed off a milkshake, are you really even living? And let’s be honest, what pairs better with State Fair sausage, peppers and onions, and a bucket of chocolate chip cookies than a Margarita Dole Whip?
So if you’re at the New York State Fair and you’re going to be drinking, I highly recommend going down to get yourself a passport from Ashley Lynn.
I wasn’t a wine slushy person, but apparently I am now.
