What do you think of when you picture spring inspired cocktails? There’s plenty of options to choose from, especially depending on the weather. Here in Upstate we can go from hot and sunny to cool and cloudy quickly. On a day like today (cool and cloudy), we’re reaching for a bottle of gin and some fresh fruit to make ourselves a Bramble…or our version of a Bramble.
We’ve mentioned it before and we’ll continue to mention it…when making a great cocktail, make sure you’re using great ingredients. That’s why we like to use Red Jacket Orchards juices in our cocktails. For this Bramble we’re using Red Jacket Orchards Blackcurrant Apple Juice.
Here’s the recipe:
2 ounces Gin – we used Locktedner’s Gin from Lock 1 Distilling Co.
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/2 ounce simple syrup
2 ounces blackcurrant apple juice from Red Jacket Orchards
A few fresh blackberries
Muddle everything together
Shake it up
And then dump the whole mixture into a glass with ice.
You can add more fresh fruit and a lemon wheel to the drink. This is a lovely drink to make anytime, but especially during spring. Not only is it an easy drink to mix together, but it’s a delicious drink using local ingredients like Red Jacket Orchards Blackcurrant Apple juice. Mix one up for yourself this weekend and send us your pictures on Facebook or Instagram!
