What they’re doing
Every month, CrisPi releases a new wing sauce and a new flavored blue cheese.
The base blue cheese is made in house and it’s one of the best in Syracuse. It’s thick, with plenty of garlic and black pepper, three things I want in a blue cheese. Now they’re adding a new flavor to it every month? I’m here for it. I can’t think of anyone else around here doing flavored blue cheeses on a regular basis.
That’s what I love most about finding restaurants. It doesn’t have to be the most original idea or perfect execution. Someone just doing something different is enough for me.
This month’s flavors
The wing sauce is a Mexican lime and garlic. The story goes that it started at the old Clam Bar in North Syracuse, then moved to the Chicken Bandit food truck. Cindy, one of the truck’s owners, now works at CrisPi and makes the sauce herself. It’s thin but still clings to the wing, with a little heat and the lime coming through in subtle ways.
The blue cheese is garlic parmesan, and you taste both: extra garlic and just a bit of parmesan saltiness. I have a hard time thinking of anything it wouldn’t make better.
Pink boxes for October
All October, every order comes in new white and pink CrisPi pizza boxes, with a portion of sales going to breast cancer research through the Baldwin Fund.
