A bowl full of cookie dough.
I believe this is Bowl of Dough’s second year at the New York State Fair. Last year they were one of the new vendors to look out for, and if memory serves, they were very popular. I know I included them in a video last year, but I don’t think I actually tasted the cookie dough. So, this year, they were on my list of the earliest places I wanted to hit.
I got the triple scoop of cookie dough. I believe you can get a smaller sample of each flavor, or a full three scoops like I did. My mind is blanking on the price, so don’t quote me on that one.
For flavors, I got Banana Pudding, Lemon Blueberry and their special fall flavor, Apple Cider.
The Banana Pudding was good — it had a flavor that reminded me of Banana Pudding without being overly banana-flavored. There were even had crushed-up vanilla wafers inside.
I wanted to love the Lemon Blueberry the most because I love Lemon Blueberry things. There was a good blueberry flavor with streaks of blueberries throughout, but not so much on the Lemon side. If there were a stronger lemon punch in there, I probably would’ve loved it the most.
Then there was my favorite — their fall feature, Apple Cider. This was delicious. It tasted like Apple Cider, and it tasted like fall in cookie dough form.
The cookie dough itself was incredibly smooth and silky. It stuck to the spoon when tipped upside down, but it didn’t feel like a brick.
As much as I loved taking a few bites of each flavor, I’ll say this might be crossing a line for me. There’s just something about eating raw cookie dough that makes me feel incredibly fat. And listen, doing what I do and being the size that I am, there are certain things that make me feel like a fat POS — and eating raw cookie dough standing outside in 78° weather with humidity definitely does it.
Would I recommend it? 1,000%. Will I get it again this year? No — I’ve abused my body enough and don’t need to do any more damage this year. If they’re back next year, will I go again? Absolutely.
Special shout out to our friends at GT Automotive for sponsoring today’s visit to The Fair. If you’re looking for a place to take your car, truck, van or any motor vehicle, give them a try — that’s where I take my truck for all its needs to make sure I’m driving in top shape while I travel around New York.
