Lunkenheimer Craft Brewing Co. in Weedsport + A Heads-Up About the Flour City Brewers Festival
Last week I found myself in Weedsport, NY, and decided to stop at Lunkenheimer Craft Brewing Co.. It’s a small-town spot, but it’s packed with personality—and the kind of beer list that makes you stop and read twice just to be sure you saw it right.
First up was their Pickle Beer. It’s exactly what it sounds like—bright, crisp, briny, and way more drinkable than you’d expect. Perfect for a hot day. Then I went for the Peanuty Butter Jalapeño Beer, which might be the most unexpected thing I’ve had in a while. It starts smooth and nutty, then finishes with a slow, lingering jalapeño heat that makes you want to take another sip just to figure it out.
The food matched the creativity of the beer. I tried their Pickle Pizza, which hit that perfect balance of cheesy and tangy, and then their Massive Pretzel Charcuterie—a huge soft pretzel surrounded by cured meats, cheeses, and pickled vegetables. It’s one of those things you order “to share” but secretly hope no one else at the table is that hungry.
Where You Can Find Them Next
If you can’t make it to Weedsport, you’ll still have a chance to try Lunkenheimer’s beers soon—they’ll be at the Flour City Brewers Festival on Friday, August 22nd at the Rochester Public Market.
This is one of my favorite events of the year. Over 40 breweries from all over New York, plus cider, wine, food trucks, live bluegrass music, and a summer night at the market—it’s tough to beat. I’ll be there too, walking around, meeting people, and probably tracking down another pickle beer.
If you’re even thinking about going, get your tickets ahead of time. The festival has been around for 31 years, and it’s popular for a reason—tickets do sell out.
