After hearing about OG Dumpling House for more than a year, I finally made the trip—and immediately understood why people don’t stop talking about it. From deeply spicy noodles to comforting bowls of broth, this is the kind of place that turns a simple meal into something memorable.

For probably the last year and a half, I’ve had people telling me I had to go to OG Dumpling House. Recommendation after recommendation. Comment after comment. And somehow, I just never made it.

Until now.

OG Dumpling House has two locations—one in Rochester and one in Buffalo—and I finally made it to the OG Dumpling House location. Let me just say this upfront: I absolutely love Chinese food and most Asian cuisines. To me, the perfect evening is simple—someone you love, a bowl of spicy noodles swimming in broth, soup dumplings, and plenty of drinks.

That’s it. That’s the dream.

The Perfect Meal, Right Now

If you asked me what my perfect meal is right now, the answer is easy: spicy Szechuan-style noodles and a massive bowl of steaming hot broth. OG Dumpling House delivers exactly that.

I ordered the Dan Dan noodles, served in a deeply spicy broth with ground pork, cilantro, and huge pieces of baby bok choy. This isn’t “kind of spicy.” This is the kind of spicy where your nose starts running, your face warms up, and people at nearby tables might glance over like, you good?

And honestly? That’s the best part.

When food makes you work a little—when it forces a reaction—it becomes more than just a meal. It becomes an experience. The heat, the depth of flavor, the richness of the broth—it all just clicks.

A Place That Feels Like a Secret

What really surprised me was how busy it was. I was there in the middle of the afternoon on a Tuesday, and the place was packed. Not tourists. Not people killing time. People who clearly knew exactly what they were doing.

That’s when it hit me: OG Dumpling House feels like one of those places that everyone else somehow already knew about. A spot that locals quietly keep in rotation because the food speaks for itself.

Why I’ll Be Back

OG Dumpling House is the kind of restaurant that reminds you why you love food in the first place. Bold flavors. No apologies. No toning things down. Just honest, spicy, comforting dishes that hit exactly where you want them to.

If you love dumplings, noodles, spice, or just food that makes you feel something–go. And don’t wait a year and a half like I did.
