3 Places to Eat on a Monday Night in Syracuse
Welcome to the first installment in our newest series, “3 Places to Eat”. Our goal is to share with you 3 places to eat (or drink) in a variety of different ways. Whether it’s cuisine type, price, or day of the week, we’re bringing you lots of new places to eat! To start, we thought we’d spare you some of the frustration we recently experienced when going out to dinner on a Monday. So many places are closed! So, next time you want to start the week with an evening out, here are 3 places to eat on a Monday night in Syracuse.
Grotto – North Syracuse
I have been to Grotto in North Syracuse on several occasions, and I can tell you that they have knocked it out of the park Every. Single. Time. If the incredible farm-to-table menu isn’t enough, the cozy atmosphere and the attentive waitstaff make the experience that much more enjoyable. The menu features classic Italian and American dishes like Chicken Francaise, Eggplant Parmesan, Grilled Salmon, and Steak & Potatoes. But they also have their own spin on regional favorites, including Grotto Greens and Steak Riggies.
Your meal starts out with hot, fresh Italian bread and a small plate of oil and herbs for dipping. Drink choices are limited to beer and wine, but you don’t need fancy cocktails when the flavors of the dishes speak for themselves.
After your entree, ask for the daily desserts and treat yourself. It’s the perfect way to complete your Monday night out.
Salt City Market – Syracuse
If you can’t decide what type of food you’re in the mood for – or if you’re going out with a picky group of friends – head over to Salt City Market. Opened in January 2021, Salt City Market features 11 food stalls, each specializing in a different type of cuisine. Nine of them are open on Mondays, so you and your friends will have plenty of options! Start with a cocktail at Salt City Bar; make sure to ask what their seasonal drinks are. Then wander around the food hall and choose from Thai, Vietnamese, Soul Food, Pies, Jamaican, or Middle Eastern. Better yet, sample a little from each place!
Some of our favorite items to order are the Curry Chicken Roti from Erma’s Island, Samosas from Baghdad, and Mac & Cheese from Miss Prissy’s. Finish off your visit with a piece of cake from Cake Bar and a juice from Farm Girl.
Azteca – Camillus
Is there a better way to start the week than with a $5 mojito and dinner? We didn’t think so. So next time you’re looking for a place to eat on a Monday night, head over to Azteca in Camillus. In addition to their generously-sized cocktails, they have everything you’d expect to see in an American Mexican restaurant. Enchiladas, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, fajitas, and more. And yes, they bring you complimentary chips and salsa when you’re seated at your table. As for dinner, try one of their specials. The king burrito is a customer favorite; it’s gigantic, stuffed with the meat of your choice, and topped with corn salsa. Or mix it up with a piña fajita, It has all the fixings of a fajita, but is served inside a pineapple.
